Features of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice
The SSR Hospice Center is centrally located and less than 30 minutes away from any Sheboygan County resident. Patients
receive medical care from a doctor and nurse practitioner certified in pain and symptom management. A social worker
skilled in care planning adds logistical and emotional support to each patient's family. The 30,000 square foot Sharon S.
Richardson Community Hospice is located just outside Sheboygan Falls and overlooking the Mullet
River. Extensive landscaping creates a park like setting and include a therapeutic garden and nature trails. A series of
pathways and gardens traverse the site.
Structural framing is standard wood framing, with a slab on grade and poured foundations. Roof framing has areas
where specialty trusses or hand framing was necessary. Exterior cladding materials consist of siding and trim,
coursed stone accents, pre-finished metal trim, and asphalt/fiberglass shingles.
The public areas comprise a living room, dining room, large kitchen, children's play room, chapel, library, and flower room. The
main entrance and kitchen are tiled, the dining room has wood flooring, and all other areas are carpeted. Specialty
lighting and ceiling fans are used throughout the public spaces. A large fireplace is located at the center of this space.
Three groupings of six rooms are oriented for maximum outdoor exposure. The patient's rooms are meant to feel as close to a
home as possible, while incorporating all of the features of a hospital room. Oxygen, suction, and medical air is required
in all rooms. The headwall is hidden behind uniquely designed cabinetry.
