A Tribute to Sharon

Sharon S. Richardson
As the daughter of Sharon Richardson, I appreciate the opportunity to acquaint you with a few of the things that she did in her life that made an impact on me and others. In describing the character of my Mother, I’ve noticed how nicely it harmonizes with the organization that bears her name. As a wife, and Mother, she was loyal, loving, and dedicated.

It was how she reached out to people whom she didn’t know, that was, and still is, an example to me. If someone was friendly, kind, or efficient in her work, Mom would tell them how much she appreciated them. It’s that unexpected kind gesture that can lift the spirits of the people we touch, even if just briefly.

Mom was very dedicated to her friendships. If you became her friend you were her friend for life. Perhaps it was inevitable for her to be that way, since she was an outgoing only child from Sheboygan Falls, but more likely it was a sign of her commitment toward others Mom, especially in her younger years, loved to entertain. She was always a gracious hostess with fabulous cooking skills. Anyone coming into her home would also see that she was gifted in creating a home that had warmth, sophistication, and a peacefulness that came from nature that surrounded her.

Even to the time of her death, Mom had a positive attitude and sense of humor. She was an example of how we can lighten our burden by seeing the joyfulness in life. At the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice you will see some of my Mother’s values at work everyday. Our staff and volunteers are loyally committed to serving our community in helping caregivers, and their loved ones, going through a most difficult time by providing comfort, respecting their choices, and standing beside them with dignity and compassion.
