Because…My Journey Matters.

Recently a colleague reminded me of a poem by Linda Ellis entitled, “The Dash”. The heart of the poem focuses on the dash between the date of our birth and the date we die. “What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash,” the poem says.
I’m going to state the obvious, every one of us will die. It is how we were created. But it is our journey along the way that matters. It is all of our experiences – good and bad, the memories we’ve made with family and friends, the work we did and more.
The journey doesn’t end once you are diagnosed with a life-limiting illness or choose hospice care. It’s the beginning of a new journey. A journey that may be filled with compassion, tears, love, laughter, grief, anger, forgiveness and so many other emotions and feelings. Hospice celebrates and honors your journey and is by your side to help live out how you want your dash to come to a close.
Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice will be here for you to ensure you and the ones you love experience an end-of-life journey with compassion, dignity and support. It’s our Promise to you.
If you haven’t read the “The Dash”, I would encourage you to visit thedashpoem.com.
